设计批评不仅仅是去关注国家的重大设计项目和设计运动，也不是简单的好与坏的判断和分析。而是对于设计发展背后普遍规律的探寻和揭示，并在这个过程中找到设计与文化、市场和艺术创作之间的微妙联系和互动影响。“中国物体系”的研究和写作所一直寻找的恰恰是一种日常生活中的批评力量，它不受个别人观点的左右，而在民间市场中颇具影响，甚至在这种旺盛的生命力中表现出设计本来的面目。

Design criticism is not only about paying attention to the country’s major design projects and design campaigns, nor is it a simple judgment and analysis of merits and demerits. It is aimed at exploring and revealing the universal law behind the development of design, and finding out the subtle connection and interactive influence between design and culture, market and artistic creation in this process. What the research and writing of “Chinese System of Object”has been looking for is just a kind of critical power in daily life, which is not influenced by the opinions of individuals, but has great influence on the folk market, and even shows the original features of design in this vigorous vitality.

黄厚石现任教于南京艺术学院设计学院，并致力于设计理论、设计批评、设计思想史与设计人类学等方向的研究与实践工作。入选2011年江苏省333工程第三批次人才，2013年参加了江苏省博士进企业活动，并从2012年开始成为江苏省青蓝工程中青年学科带头人。2012年起承担国家社会科学基金艺术学一般项目《延安设计思想（1935-1948年）及其当代价值研究》等多项研究课题与项目，先后发表40余篇学术论文与出版《设计原理》《设计批评》与《事实与价值：卢斯装饰批判的批判》等多部学术专著，并曾为《艺术设计研究》《艺术与设计》等杂志担任栏目主持或专栏策划。

Professor Huang Houshi is now teaching at School of Design, Nanjing University of the Arts. His main research areas include design theory, design criticism, design thought history and design anthropology. In 2011, professor Huang was selected as the third batch of talents of “333 project” of Jiangsu province. In 2013, he participated in the activity called “Doctors Entering the Businesses”. Since 2012, he has been the young and middle-aged academic leader of “Blue Project” of Jiangsu Province and has been involved in a number of research subjects and projects, including Research on the Design Thought in Yan’an Period (from 1935 to 1948) and Its Contemporary Value. He has published more than 40 academic papers as well as several academic monographs including Principles of Design, Design Criticism, Fact and Value: The Criticism of Loo’s Criticism of Ornament, etc. Also, he was once the column host of magazines like Design Research and Art and Design.
